One of the pivotal moments in his career, however, was his time as a member of Hip Hop crew, The Proov. A co-founder, Leroy was tasked with overseeing production, which resulted in a critically acclaimed studio album, two EP's, a couple of singles, while the crew subsequently morphed into a 10-piece live band, on the road for two years.
Another key moment was his collaboration with Wicked Jazz Connection, a project spawning the talents of a musician collective, all connected to the legendary club nite in Amsterdam. As part of a three men production unit, a 15-track album was recorded, with features from Ursula Rucker & The Pharcyde's Bootie Brown, the whole endeavor a showcase of their abilities to weave together a rich tapestry of very diverse musical influences.
In the ever-evolving landscape of music, where seemingly everyone is a DJ, Leroy is a beacon of artistic integrity. His dedication to keep pushing boundaries, while staying true to what moved him to do this in the first place, is truly something to behold. And even with more than 30 years of DJ mastery behind him, one thing remains certain –his passion for music is just as vibrant as it was, when he first embarked on this remarkable odyssey back in 1992.
